It has been a pleasure getting to know you and work with you this semester. I hope your experience has been a positive one and that you have felt challenged but also supported. Please reflect on your time in your English class this year, using the questions below as guidelines.
What have you learned this semester? What literature and/or grammar lessons did you enjoy most? Which did you feel were the most important? In what ways did your experience in this class benefit you?
(Note: Please don't fill your response with fake emotion. Just answer the question honestly by telling what you learned and how it will be useful to you in the future.)
Your response should be 150-200 words and is due no later than 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. You will lose points if your response is under the minimum number of words, if it is late, and/or if it does not reflect your own ideas.
So what did I learn this semester? Heck, I don’t know and I don’t care. After I learned it and took a test on it, everything just went out of the brain and into the garbage. What literature or grammar did I enjoy the most? It’s obvious, none of it. I hate english; english is the devil. I hate it….. ALL OF IT! I didn’t feel any of this was important to me. It made me cry at nights so I had to eat some broccoli to calm my nerves, but then I thought about English some more and I cry even more. Because of that I ran out of broccoli. Thanks a lot! How did my experience in this class benefit me? Not much at all, I’m still the same person as I always was. The only thing it did was make m e hate school even more. I’m thinking I should just drop out now and work at Mickey D’s for the rest of my life. If that doesn’t work, there’s always other fast food places. Or I could be a drug dealer or become a pimp like Tim.

DeleteHope the Mickey D's works out for you. If not, you could always just grow broccoli.
DeleteThis semester I have learned that sometimes you have to do things that you don’t want to do, such as grammar, but it only helps you in the long run, not hurts you. I’ve also learned that you can’t just expect to breeze by in life like I had been doing in the past, in this class you actually have to work to make a good grade, it’s not just handed to you like in most classes. My favorite literature lesson this semester was the one on genocide because i'm very interested in the Holocaust and loved getting to read more about it in a class other than history. I felt like the most important literature lesson we did was the social justice one because it depicts how one sees the world, which is in so many different ways. My experience in this class benefited me because it pushed me to work to my full potential to keep up with my grades.
ReplyDeleteI remember learning the "breezing by" lesson myself. It was a tough but important one. Great job this semester and hope that you continue working toward your full potential!
DeleteWhat have i learned this semester? I have learned that you can’t always have an A or B in all your classes because there is always that one class that will bring you down, i have also learned that you should prepare yourself more for everything so that you can achieve even more. I think that out of every lesson in this class the only thing that i enjoyed were the blogs, wordly wise, and the word walls everything else i disliked, and it wasn’t because of lack of interest i just didn’t understand a bit of of it.I don’t really know which one was most important, i guess all of them. I wouldn’t know though i was lost half of the time. I have to admit that it helped me understand stuff that i didn’t really understand from the beginning and even learn stuff that i didn’t know. I think that it helped everyone in this class understand grammar at least a bit more. This was a challenging class for me but i have to say that if it weren’t for this class then i would’ve never realized that not all classes are easy even if it looks like it is.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that you often felt lost and that you had difficulty understanding some of the course material. I hope that in future classes you will seek help when you don't understand something. Continue to challenge yourself and work hard!

ReplyDeleteI have definitely gotten a deeper liking of reading stories. I love books based on real things and I love history so the books the Night I really liked and liked that section of the class. I really hate grammar so I didn’t really like this section of the class at all. I hate grammar in general and would rather just do vocab and read and do QMIS the whole semester.
I thought that the projects were fun especially the worldly one. It amazes me how much information we could learn for one thing and what is really going on. I like projects and I hate them at the same time. I like them because you can show who you are through them and how you do them. I hate them because it takes time and thought and it just feels like you rush it too if you forget.
I feel the grammar and vocab were most important because we need to know how to write and construct sentences that really have structure and not how we sound like we do through text messages. All in all the whole class had ups and downs of good and bad.
I think this benefited me because I now know how to do hard work and do a lot more of time management. I was always pretty good at being organized and managing things to get them done but this class has tested that and stretched it. I am glad though because as time goes on I can use it in years to come with being a Senior and Junior but also when I am in College.
I know the grammar was unpopular, but as you said, it is something important that most of you don't have much knowledge about. I hope the grammar and everything else really will benefit you as you continue to learn and grow. I'm glad you liked the projects and felt like you learned some things about the world!
DeleteI have learned a lot this semester. My understanding of stories, themes and poems has deepened, so i am now able to understand them more easily. My grammar has improved a lot and i am now able to recognize and avoid my own errors, something i wasn’t able to do before i was in your class. I enjoyed Elie Wiesel the most this semester, it was a very emotional and realistic book. I liked the Verb Tenses lesson the most. I found it very easy and was able to grasp it quickly. My experience in this class benefited me in many ways. I did not enjoy english and found it very hard, so taking this class was a challenge at first. I was able to understand more and more and finally began to enjoy it. A lot of the stories we read were very interesting, especially the tragic hero ones. This class made me a time manager and helped me to avoid procrastination especially when it came to working on projects. I did not enjoy wordly wise, but it was actually really easy at the end, so it wasn’t as bad. It was a challenging semester being in this English class, but you made it an enjoyable experience.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the semester and felt challenged! You really pushed yourself and I saw deeper thinking in your work as we progressed. Great work!
DeleteI feel I learned a good amount this semester. From new words to literature, I have been able to gain new perspectives. With wordly wise I learned many new words that I can only assume will benefit me as time goes on, especially on the SAT/ACT. With literature, books like The Stranger taught me about the different perspectives people have in life. The book, Night, taught me about how potentially evil someone can be, and it taught me the horrors of mankind and gave many details. I have also enjoyed the blogs as they tend to be kinda fun to write and are easy grades. Despite this, I feel overall I have not changed. I still hold the views I had when I first entered this classroom. I was convinced to take creative writing, which I look forward too as I love poetry and world building. Most of my other classes are more of the same, nothing truly substantial, education wise, was gained. Socially, I have made many new friends who which I deeply enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you have been able to see different perspectives, and I'm excited that you're going to take creative writing!
DeleteOn an honest note, I’ve always liked English. Well, the reading part. Reading has always been something I’ve enjoyed since I was younger, but grammer on the other hand.. Not so much. After finishing a semester with you, I learned that In life, you will have to do things that you dont want too. It sucks but Its true and it makes a huge difference in the long run. I really didnt enjoy any grammer lessons. I mean, I can tell I benifited from them, but I didnt enjoy them. I feel that they are really important though. They make a big difference in everything. At first I hated this class. I didnt enjoy anything, but as I continued through the class, I started to enjoy it. Things started to make more sense, and become to a better understanding. So I guess the one thing I really learned from this class is that things are always gonna be hard, but you have to push throught them and continue trying.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to start understanding things and enjoy the class more as the semester progressed. I think most people agree about disliking grammar, but you know I'm just trying to help you all have the knowledge you need to succeed as you continue to learn!

ReplyDeleteWhat have I learned this semester? This semester I’ve learned that sometimes you can’t procrastinate. You have to push yourself to do well and finish whatever needs to be done. For example, when doing a project you can keep putting it off and waiting until the last minute to do it cause you probably would like the results. What literature and/or grammar did I enjoy most? I didn’t enjoy any of the grammar. I know that I will need it more in the future, but it’s not something I really care about as of now. All of the grammar was important, I don’t really feel as if any of it is more important than the rest, but others might. In what ways did my experience in this class benefit you? The class actually helped me better understand how to use proper grammar. Before I had this class I didn’t understand a lot of things involving english grammar. Even though I took honors english it was still hard for me, so this class helped me out a lot.
ReplyDeleteProcrastinating does create a struggle later! I'm glad you feel the class helped you even if it was hard at times.
Deletei have learned so much, i learned alot about modifers, and pronouns, also i learned how to use logical thinking of what the old grandma’s would choose as the right answer. my favorite grammar lesson was the first one cause i made a 83 on it after the retest and that was the easiest one on the real. I feel like all of them were important even though by next year i will probably forget about half of this stuff like not even trying to be funny. One experience is actually working hard in english because all my other english classes have been easy for me but this one killed i was like if i get through this i can get through anything you hard then Mr. Griffin and he hard for real for real if i get a B in here i feel like i got a A!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you felt like the class was challenging! It can be tough, but it sounds like you learned a lot. I hope you won't forget it but rather continue to apply the lessons you learned (academic and otherwise) in the future!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI have learned a lot this semester in English, learning about grammar is challenging. This class is challenging and hard working class that you have to work for or you’re not making an A or B. Grammar is the biggest thing i’ve learned you have to study and understand. The grammar lessons I really didn’t enjoy, because you have the challenging parts of grammar that is hard to comprehend. Knowing the “proper” part and the non proper part that most of us use today. I enjoyed learning about the Holocaust and how we read Night by Elie. I enjoyed learning about the Holocaust and how it was a tragic time period for those people. The most important was knowing mostly the grammar part in this class, and making sure you know it on the test. This class has benefited me because you have to push yourself in this class, we did non-stop work and I think that has helped me focus more on classwork. I have learned to manage your time and plan ahead to make sure you get your work done.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've learned to focus and manage your time! And I'm glad you enjoyed some of the literature, even if the grammar was challenging. I think grammar was universally unpopular, but I hope it will help you as you advance in your education and need to do more formal writing.
DeleteI have learned this semester that you have to do things you do not want to do, in order to succeed. Things may get really hard and may seem completely ridiculous but you have to do what you have to do. Giving up is not the only solution, no matter how much easier it may seem to be. My favorite literature lesson is the one we are currently on right now. I believe this lesson is the most important one because it involves more about life, rather than what’s on the pages of our textbooks or the curriculum of our school system. I think this class has improved my work ethics and time management. It changed my outlook on some things in life and it taught me how to be honest. Although I did not like some of the work we did in this class, I always learned something from it.
ReplyDeleteGiving up does seem easiest at times, but not if you want to achieve or accomplish something! I'm glad you've learned to improve your work ethics and time management, and that you saw a deeper meaning to some of the literature we read!
DeleteWhat have you learned this semester? This semester I have learned to focus more on my work and having to work for the grade I want. I’ve learned to have a deeper understanding of grammar. Wordly wise has helped with exploring more new words. The SAT’s/ACT’s questions are also very helpful to know what is coming my way therefore I’ll be prepared. What literature and/or grammar lessons did you enjoy most? Out of everything, I enjoyed reading Night the most. Learning new things out that involves history is interesting. It included two subjects which made it better. I feel like sticking only to just english is boring therefore I enjoyed reading Night plus it was a good non fiction story. Which did you feel were the most important? The warm up are very important to me because it includes everything that will help me to be prepared. It’s also not something every teacher do. In what ways did your experience in this class benefit you? I feel that the grammar and deeper understanding of reading will help me throughout my life. It will benefit me everywhere I go.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel that you've learned skills like grammar, reading, and test prep that will benefit you in your future!
DeleteI learned a lot more about grammar which I happily will remember because that’s something I’ll need later on in life. I like the verb tenses the most because they were the easiest to understand and that helped me. I feel like the pronouns was the most important thing I learned in this class because I’ll most definitely be using this the most because it seems so common to me. This class has helped me come out of my shell just a little. Every class I take it helps with my confidence and this class helped me the most this semester. Having to read out loud or stand in front of the class helped a lot. I don’t like doing these things because people are very judgy nowadays. I don’t wanna be judge just because I stutter. Many people in school do this to people. I hate that, I try not to judge people but it happens to everybody. I want to thank you for the little bit of confidence you gave me.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel more confident and that you have come out of your shell some! That is just as important as--or even more important that--the literature and grammar and everything else!
DeleteThis class has improved my grammar skills by a great amount. I used to be terrible at English and still probably are, but I improved alot. One of the only things I disliked about this class were the grammer test, everything else was very enjoyable. My favorite topic we went over was the one about the Holocaust. That is one of my favorite topics just because I find it very interesting. I also feel that the Holocaust was one of the most important topics, because we are listening to the prisoner point of view rather than the other side. I usually don’t enjoy books, but Night by Elie Weisel changed my perspective. The method of teaching you use and different things you imply to help us, pushes us to earn the grade we have in this class. You can not breeze through the semester in this class, therefore the grade you have, is the grade you earned.
ReplyDelete"and still probably are..." (laugh)
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed everything except the wildly unpopular grammar! I'm glad to hear that you feel you have a broader perspective on books after reading Night and that you feel like you have been pushed and challenged to earn a good grade.
From this semester i have learned a lot about about myself and habits that need changing. I learned that I need to stop procrastinating so much and get stuff done when there is time instead of waiting until the last minute. I learned that even if when you wait until the last second it only takes a second, your grade reflects on how much time you spent on something. Also that EIGHT O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING IS TOO EARLY. I didn’t enjoy much from this semester if i’m being completely honest although The Stranger seems to catch my attention at the moment and so did the Genocide unit. I felt that The Genocide chapter was most important because it brought attention to us what terrible things happened around the world that we didn’t know about. This class has made me learn to try to be more responsible, to try to stop procrastinating and that studying does affect your grades.
ReplyDeleteRetweet! 8 AM is too early. When you go to college, you will get to set up your own schedule, so make sure you don't take any early morning classes! :)
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed The Stranger and the genocide unit. I really do hope my students learn and understand more about the world, so I'm glad you feel like you gained some perspective!
This semester I have learned that I have to be more focused my work because my grades went down mostly in this class. I learned that I have to come to school on time more and to have less absences. I learned that my work needs to be on time more because most of it was late because it was too much. The literature or grammar lessons were all the same and most of them were hard so I didn't enjoy it.I think that the pronoun were the most important one because it can help in the future when I want to get a job do they know my grammar is correct. My experience in this class benefited me because it made me work more than all my other classes combined. It showed that I should turn my work in earlier and all the projects we did made my class experience harder.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you learned some lessons about focusing and being physically and mentally present to be successful! I'm sorry to hear your other classes didn't provide as much challenging work to help you learn more.
DeleteThis semester I have learned that the grade doesn't really matter as long as I tried my hardest. I didn't really enjoy any of the grammar lessons. I guess the most important grammar that we learned was the pronouns. I just wrote down what I was told to write down then I almost never looked back at it. This class has taught me to push through things and also to not start a project the night before it is due. The reading I had to do while we read Othello has helped me to not be so scared to read in front of a class. I probably would still never volunteer to read but if I get called on to read, I know I wont be so scared. I know this class will help me next year in English 11. Thank you for everything you've done Mr. B. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel a little more confident about reading in the class. You are totally capable so no reason to be scared. I hope you will take the lessons you learned this year and apply them as you continue learning!
DeleteThis semester I have learned a lot, I have learned new words, new pronoun usages/ agreements, and new ACT/SAT tips for the future. I also learned that you cannot procrastinate on assignments. This class was a lot of work. All of the work we did improved my grammar. The Night was my favorite literature book we read. The last subject we did which was pronouns, I felt was the most important. The pronoun work was challenging. Some parts were easy and some parts were harder than others. This class helped me learn more about the real world. The Night helped me with some history, and the ACT/SAT question of the day helped me realize that the ACT/SAT requires a lot of thinking and comprehension. This class has taught me a lot of things that will help me out next year in English 11. Thank you for all the work you’ve assigned.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you feel like you've benefited from all parts of the class. I know it isn't always fun, but I hope the things we've worked on will help you to succeed and excel in future classes and on your SAT/ACT.
DeleteOverall this semester has been challenging to me professionally, physically, and mentally. Even though I felt like I’ve could done better in this class I still think that it’s been a great semester. I learned that I needed to challenge myself and do the best I can do. This class is part of the life lesson that I learned during the semester. This lesson taught me that I needed to stop the child’s play and really start to focus on what I need to do. This also made me realized that it’s only going to get harder at each step. You also help me improve my integrity allowing us to take quizzes and tests on the chromebooks. Using the chromebooks also helped me improve my typing skills. Not only that learned the skills that need for english I also learned that I have to get out of my comfort zone and push myself to do things I haven’t done before. I just wanted to say thank you for being my teacher and help me prepare for my future.
ReplyDeleteI know the class wasn't always easy, but I want to commend you for the effort you put forth. You were one of the most consistent students and you tried harder than many of your classmates! I have seen great growth in you and your work through the semester. I hope you will continue to persevere through challenges as you advance in your education.
DeleteWhat have I learned this semester. I’ve learned that you can't just be lazy and expect a good grade. A good grade comes with hard work and dedication. English 10 honors has really been a challenge but I’ve overcame some huge obstacles. What literature and/or grammar did I enjoy most? I would have to say the Social Justice Project. This particular assignment stood out to me. It showed me that there are many different human rights and people have many different outlooks on these rights. I would truly have to say i really enjoyed that assignment. On the other hand I really didn't enjoy any grammar. Grammar isn't really my stronghold but I know that it will be helpful later on in life. What assignment did I feel was the most important? I think the most important assignment was the Genocide Project, because it gave us background on the holocaust and that's something that is taught in other subjects as well. In which ways did my experience English 10 honors benefit me? There isn't any particular way or thing that benefited me, I think everything I learned in this class will help me throughout my life. All-in-All this class helped me in ways i didn't understand. Even though i really don't like English/Grammar I enjoyed this class because it taught me stuff that I will use in a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel like you gained some understanding of society and the world through the social justice and genocide projects. I know it hasn't been an easy semester, but I hope it really will benefit you in your future!
DeleteThe things I have learned in Mr. B’s English 10 Honors class is how to workout and solve SAT questions, how to pace my time at home for projects and learned a lot more about grammar. The literature book that I enjoyed the most was the book “Night” because it was a book that had a lot of suspense and didn’t die down to where it was boring. I very much enjoy the “Chomp, Chomp” exercises that we would for grammar practice. I felt like the QMIS we did for books were very important because it made us pay attention and actually read the book. The grammar practices that we did was important because it helped us see problems and how to fix them. My experience in this class benefited me by realizing how easy grammar, outside of school project, and reading books could be so easy with a little hard work.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that by the end you felt like the class wasn't too hard with a little work! I have been impressed with the effort you put forth all semester and how consistent you have been in your studies. I'm proud of you! Keep it up in the future.
DeleteWhat have i learned this semester? The things that i've learned is that you actually have to try to try and make good grades or to succeed. Before this class i've never studied or tried and i always have made at least a B without trying but this class i actually had to try a little to make a B. I didn't enjoy any literature or grammar lesson because i hate all
ReplyDeleteenglish. I already know how to speak it so why do we have a class about it? I feel that they were all important but i hated them. Because i'm not good with grammar or literature but i already know how to speak english so it doesn't matter. The ways this class benefited me was that it showed me you have to work a little in school to try and get good grades and to succeed in the future.
I already know how to make Ramen noodles, so I don't need to learn how to cook.
DeleteI'm glad that the class has made you work a little to get a good grade and succeed.
This semester I have learned about different types of literature, things that will be on the SAT, and grammar. I have also learned that if you do all your work your grades will be better. I enjoyed Night the best out of everything we read because it was not boring and it was a really well written. I felt that all of the grammar lessons were important because before this class my grammar was not very good and by doing the lessons my grammar has become better and it will help me on the ACT and SAT, which are very important tests to get into college. My experience in this class has benefited me by making me work hard and that made me learn a lot. The hard work I did in this class had made me want to work harder to get better grades in all of my classes.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have learned a lot in the class and feel better prepared for the ACT, SAT, and future classes!
DeleteI have learned a lot of things while being in this class . like for instance i did not know half of the things i know about grammar that i know now and you have made it easier for me to understand the different things in grammar that i needed to know. i enjoyed the book othello the most. it was a lot going on in the book and i liked the way it was written. i felt like all of it was important because i am going to be using all of it in my life at some point in time. this class benefitted me in a variety amount of ways because it gave me knowledge of things that i did not know before so it helped out a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed Othello and have gained knowledge of things you didn't know before!
DeleteHonestly, grammar stressed me this entire semester since we started. It contributed to my formal language. English improved my work ethic for studying english. My work ethic is already to my potential but it’s just hard being consistent with grammar. This semester I learned how to manage time, this year was very stressful, because sports and keeping up with homework. Being able to stay awake in each class. Literature was more important being honest with you. Reading increases your knowledge and your speaking. Comprehending helps you understand more around when one is talking. Wordly Wise was really a big help, I felt like it increased my speaking and intelligence when it comes to talking to professionals. I’m just ready for english to end, it was fun at times but then again boring/sleepy. This school year has been great, blessed with many opportunities, but all things have to an end, so junior here I come!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've had a good year. I know it can be hard balancing academics and sports but I know that if you work with integrity you will be successful!
DeleteI have learned a great deal of things this semester. One being this class is hard and a lot of work. For example the vocabulary every week, the blogs, the warm ups, and the hard tests that I always have to retake. I really had to stay on top of all that and it is an Onerous task. But in all honesty you are a good teacher Mr. B and I can tell that you really care about your work and are passionate. I can say you have really opened my eyes up on how hard the ACT is. I have also learned to work harder for the grade that I want. Thank you for a great semester Mr. B
ReplyDeleteThanks for recognizing that I am passionate about my work! Really, it's because I want you all to learn a lot and be successful in the future. I know you can. I know the work in my class can be onerous at times, but it's all with the goal of helping you have a broader understanding of language, writing, and life.
DeleteSomething that I learned this semester that I really won’t forget about is the grammar. I use to not think that grammar was pretty easy and i didn’t have to think about it, but then I took the first grammar test and made a 48 on it. I mean the grammar test were the only thing that is hard in this class. Another thing I really liked are the test because no of them were multiple choice. So it took you extra work and understanding of the passage for you too get the full point.Which is really good because teachers nowadays are slacking and just giving kids easy A’s just for showing up.This is the only class that I actually got a challenge from to earn a A. I enjoyed all the stories we read except for the stranger ( maybe just because he so monotone and doesn’t care about anything and gives such vivid detail). But to be honest this class wasn’t that bad it just seems like everything was due around the same time!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you felt challenged! I think it's funny that you liked that there weren't multiple choice tests since you were always asking for them, haha! Sorry everything came due around the same time--it's just the way things worked out with the shortened semester with all the snow days and whatnot.

ReplyDeleteThis semester I learned that grammar sucks, I am so bad with grammar it aint even funny. I enjoyed reading different books and doing stuff with them but grammar I hate. I don’t mind doing the other work, you have to in order to pass the class. I actually had to try in this class to get good grades, it was a struggle to get higher than a C. I think I benefited from qmis and chapter summaries the most because it gave me a chance to actually think about and understand what I was reading. overall the class wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t amazing, its school. English is just something I have to do so I will do it. One thing I am thankful for is the SAT practice questions, I feel like it really helped prepare for the future. i also learned procrastinating sucks, i’m still trying to catch up.
You're right, it "aint even funny"! (laugh)
DeleteI'm glad you have learned some lessons, even if you didn't have an amazing experience. Sometimes we just have to do things.
I have learned I am terrible at grammar, I'm not good with parallel sentence, run on's, faulty subordination, most of it. Even though I didn't like grammar it helped my way of writing and speaking. The lesson I learned the most was probably fragments and run-on's because it was the easiest grammar lesson. I don't believe any of them had more value than the other, you need to know them all. This class showed me sometimes you have to work really hard to reach a goal, not everything is going to come easy to you and this class also taught me how to push myself. We did have a lot of work which was challenging, and I thought some assignments we shouldn't have had. This class also took a lot of my time out of my other regular classes. I am happy Mr.B pushed me to do better. This class has a benefit of responsibilty and hard work but Im happy I'm happy Im not taking English Honors again.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel that you have been pushed and learned to be responsible and work hard. I'm sorry to hear that you won't be taking honors again, but if you feel that is in your best interest, it's good that you've made that choice.
DeleteI have learned a lot this semester. Some of it I’m still trying to wrap my head around but most of it I have grasped. I enjoyed the Genocide portion of our lessons because I learned more about not only the Holocaust but other mass genocides as well. I felt that when we talked about world events and when we relate our literature is most important because we get to know how things relate to each other and how to put the book into perspective. This class has benefitted me in many ways. It has taught me many things about grammar that I didn’t know. I’ve never really been taught grammar in a way that I could understand properly but the way you have taught has made it easier for me to understand.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you feel like you've learned a lot, not only about grammar, but also about the world and having a perspective on things!
DeleteThis semester I have learned a lot about grammar and reading. I feel that this class has helped me better understand words and expand my vocabulary more. To be honest I do not like English and it is not my best subject. I think this class has prepared me for higher english classes in the future. My favorite part of the class were the people and the projects. The only thing I did not like was the abundance of work there was. I think writing all of the essays helped me to understand essay writing. This will benefit me in the future by getting me ready for college english classes and AP english classes. I think the abundance of work will help us get ready for the abundance of work we will have in the future.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you feel the class has helped you expand your language usage and writing skills so that you will be more prepared for future classes!
DeleteI have learned a lot this semester, specifically on grammar. I was taught so many grammar skills that really opened my eyes to how incorrect I used to write papers and how I spoke to others. We also read a good handful of books that were really interesting; I probably would of never read them if it was not for this class. Being in the english class was a lot of work that I did feel was unnecessary most of the time. But, I now know that it was preparing me for my future, more advanced, classes that will require this much work out of me. I feel more prepared for what the future has in store for me, and by me making it through this class handling all the work that I have been handling and getting the grades I have been, I know that I can make it through successfully.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that in the end you see the purpose behind work that may have originally seemed unnecessary! I'm glad to hear you feel more prepared for your future. I know you will be successful!
DeleteI have learned a lot this semester, such as improving my ability to write sentences better, and keeping track of my work and time with all the homework and projects we had. I didn’t really enjoy any part of grammar or literature during this class, English class in general is just something I never had interest in, I hate it. Especially the qmis, my god, those made me wanna dropout. But I felt as if the most important was the projects we had to, it help improve my research methods and talk in front of a class. Experience in this class benefited me by helping me keep track of time and my work since we had so much in this class and it helped me become a better student. But in the future I’ll never forget this class, the times I had to stay up at 12 at night finishing homework and projects, but im sure it’ll all pay off somehow and someway.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you've always hated English. I hope it has nevertheless benefited you. I'm glad you have improved your research and speaking skills. The late nights can be tough, but I think you will see in the future that what you have done this year has been relatively easy.
DeleteI really can’t remember what I learned this year. But I could learn from my mistakes. I need to be more aware of my work habits. Procrastination is something that I struggle with and it’s probably my biggest weakness. I think the Stranger or Night was one of my favorite lessons because they weren't boring. Also they were easy to understand and made it easy to picture the events in my mind. Night in my opinion was better than Stranger because it left the reader in suspense. through the book you would predict that Ellie and his father were going to die but that never happened until the end of the book. when i switched out of the regular English class i knew it was going to benefit me. If I stayed in the regular English class I would just be staring at the wall bored out of my mind. the kids in that class were no offense morons. Im not talking about their intelligence but their actions were immature and stupid. it was this one fat kid who would say “ get some cold-cuts” every day through class.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you took honors--I know you learned a lot more than you would have in the regular class! I'm glad you can learn from your mistakes. I've seen a lot of progress in your work and I've seen an increase in your focus and work ethic!
DeleteI have learned alot of things in this class whether they have been about english or real life. This class has taught me to not procrastinate on projects. I’ve learned many other things too but i’m finding it a bit difficult to recall what they were. Night was a good book even though it was really sad. I learned alot from it about how life was like in the camps back then. I don’t see how much of this will benefit the rest of my life. I see how it will benefit me in college when i do essays and presentation in class. I don’t see it being of much help in everyday life though. I have learned that i should not procrastinate when it comes to presentations and project. Otherwise the punishment will be a bad grade or a large amount of stress. The class was stressful and difficult but i’m sure other classes ahead will be also.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have learned some lessons you can apply in your academic future if not in your daily life. I think you will find in the future that this class seems, by comparison, relatively easy and stress-free.
DeleteI learned this semester a whole lot. I hate to read and I failed most of the grammar tests. I enjoyed your class. I liked the vocabulary and the SAT practice. I did not enjoy grammar. That was the worst part of the class. I learned how to procrastinate not only on the projects in your class but on the AP project and writing essays for Mrs. Miller. There were way too many essays in that class. I still don’t know how to use a pronoun. I really hope that I have an easier year in english next year because your class was hard. I feel that I have expanded my vocabulary throughout the semester. Over all I have, for the most part, enjoyed your class and I hope I pass the EOC with a good enough grade to get an A in your class. I don't think I will because I will have to get a 105 or so on it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the class despite disliking reading and grammar. I'm glad you were challenged and hope that it has benefited you. I hate to tell you that a 105 on the EOC is pretty unlikely. Highest I've ever seen is a 99, but, you know what they say about a first time for everything.
DeleteThis semester I learned about grammar and world epics. I did not enjoy the grammar or the readings. I learned from each of them. However I just didn't enjoy it. I'm sure all of it was important in equal ways. As long as somebody learned something from it then it was all important. That's my opinion. If anybody benefits them in is important in some way. This class benefited me because I had to work for my grade. The projects and the work weren't easy. The grammar test were the hardest and I had to work not to fail. Mostly I benefited from learning not ever my class is easy and I was surprise at the beginning when I figured that out. I wasn't expecting to have to work hard in this class. However I'm glad I did. I liked the class overall.
